ControlRole enum Core

What KIND of part a control is, for assistive technology — the neutral vocabulary both hosts translate into their automation control types.

Values

NameValueDescription
Custom 0
Button 1
Text 2
List 3
CheckBox 5
ListItem 7

One pick of a list (a combo's options, a value list). Appended at the end: the order of this enum is part of the API baseline.

StaticText 8

Text to read, not to operate: a caption, a paragraph, a named figure or chip. Such a part is never a tab stop.

Slider 9

A value picked along a range (ArionSlider); its value is read and set as text.

Group 10

A named region (a board tile with a caption or a name of its own, a view on a tile). Whether it holds parts is told by the parts whose AccessiblePart.ParentId names it; whether it takes the focus by AccessiblePart.Focusable, never by the role. WinForms shows it as a pane: its MSAA bridge hides the children of a grouping.

Table 11

A table a control draws itself (a data grid in a view tile): its column headers and rows are its parts.

Row 12

One row of a ControlRole.Table, named by its record; its cells are its parts.

Cell 13

One cell of a ControlRole.Row; its value is read, and set where it is not AccessiblePart.ReadOnly. A check box or a button in a cell keeps that role.

ColumnHeader 14

The caption of a column of a ControlRole.Table.
